This logo is for the new Springfield Youth Mental Health Center (YMHC), a program of the Public Health Institute of Western Massachusetts. The client wanted the YMHC logo to echo the appearance of the organization’s existing logo and that of their Beat the Odds (BTO) program (both pictured at bottom of page).
The client wanted the new YMHC logo to have a family friendly, upbeat feel, while also conveying the notion of youth overcoming obstacles.  The final logo echoes the sunburst symbol by using cheering figures. The staff and youth leaders at the Public Health Institute of Western Massachusetts agreed that the design conveyed the sense of hope and optimism they wanted for the YMHC logo.
